Job details
Want to make a difference and feel inspired daily? Look no further. Yulu is looking to add a dynamic Account Executive to its close-knit team of impact communicators and strategists. Our work sits at the intersection of strategic communications and impact consultancy, supporting organizations working to advance social and environmental progress. Like our interesting and eclectic mix of clients, we are values-driven in the work we do and the culture we enjoy. We’re looking for someone who isn’t afraid to think big and bold when it comes to ideas and results, someone who is thoughtful in everything they do, strives to have the greatest impact for their clients, is creative, curious, collaborative and, importantly, isn’t shy of hustling. We embrace a bit of edginess and encourage our team to challenge one another to achieve the best outcomes. The Social Impact team works with organizations tackling complex issues across equity, justice, health, education, community development, and social innovation. Our work can span strategic communications, impact program development and delivery, community engagement, influencer program management, research, and partnership building. We follow community leadership, move at the pace of trust, and design approaches alongside the people and communities most connected to the issues we are working to address. If you know how to listen deeply, think strategically, build trusted relationships, and mobilize resources and networks in service of meaningful change, this team could be a strong fit. In return, you’ll get to work with some of the most socially- and environmentally-progressive organizations across North America, learn from an international team, and help evolve our agency culture, which we happen to think is already pretty awesome. Our preference is someone who has 2-3+ years communications agency experience but, if you can build a strong case for being the best candidate for this job regardless, get in touch. Specific to this role, you're an excellent fit if you: Have strong project and deadline management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams, keep deliverables moving, and maintain close attention to detail. Are a strong, versatile writer who can adapt voice and tone across formats, from media pitches and press releases to thought leadership and social copy, and produce clear, compelling, error-free work with minimal editing. Bring hands-on digital and creative skills – experience designing simple assets (e.g. on Canva), working across social and digital platforms, updating websites, and supporting digital content production is a strong asset Have an understanding of equitable and respectful community engagement, including how power, access, lived experience, and systemic barriers can shape partnerships and communications. Are motivated by opportunities to advance equity, justice, and anti-oppressive practices through client work, and understand that meaningful impact requires more than good intentions. Bring curiosity and humility to the work, welcome feedback, and contribute your own perspectives, knowledge, and lived or professional experience to the team Here’s just a sample of what your day at Yulu might entail: Serving as a responsive and engaging day-to-day contact for media and clients Developing and executing media relations strategies, community engagement initiatives, and creative campaigns, applying an equity lens throughout Supporting Impact Program participants achieve their goals, in alignment with project scope, via empathy and creative problem solving Pitching and securing consistent and quality media placements through proactive media outreach Developing & maintaining solid relationships with journalists, bloggers and social media influencers Supporting ways to meet the communities you are serving where they are already at e.g. using Facebook or mailing hardcopy information to connect with rural or remote communities Conducting in-depth research and analysis of Yulu’s clients and their industries Executing social media strategies and developing creative assets Hosting a Lunch & Learn for the team on your designated UN SDG Playing a key role in shaping Yulu’s coveted community and team culture Working set-up: We’re prioritizing candidates that are based in Vancouver (and are able to work in-office some days per week).
