Terms: Full-time, Permanent

Reports to: Director of Advancement


Job Summary:

The Annual Giving Officer is accountable for the overall management of the annual giving fundraising plan. Reporting to the Director of Advancement, they will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding annual and leadership-level donors, focusing on donors from the Annual Giving Programme. Their experience, creativity and decisive approach will have them bring methods, fresh ideas, and best practices forward to accomplish our goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as the lead staff for the Annual Giving Programme; formulates, recommends and implements an Annual Giving programme that includes cultivation and solicitation plans and stewardship strategies for the fiscal year, including fundraising initiatives and activities to secure gifts from current parents, staff, alumni, and community friends.
  • Manages a portfolio of annual giving prospects and helps identify and qualify prospective major donors.
  • Cultivates, stewards, and solicits donors and prospects through targeted online, written and multi-media appeals and campaigns and in-person activities, events and meetings when necessary.
  • Tracks trends in annual giving donor activity, focusing on donor retention and building an annual giving donor base.
  • Performs annual evaluation of annual giving efforts each fiscal year and generates a comprehensive annual plan for the coming fiscal year.
  • Works with the Director of Advancement to identify and segment data for appeals and special projects; analyses data and makes appropriate adjustments to activities and programs to ensure strong results and increase giving participation.
  • Develops a schedule and marketing and communication plan to promote the culture of philanthropy and boost donor acquisitions and renewals.
  • Works with the advancement team to plan and implement a comprehensive donor stewardship programme to enhance the donor experience through the acknowledgement, recognition, and impact report.
  • Manages all Annual Giving creative, collateral and branding materials for various channels and platforms with support from the Marketing and Communications team
  • Supports new parent engagement strategies, attends school events to build and deepen relationships and develops a personal profile within the community.
  • Maintains communication channels with other faculty and staff to collate and manage information pertaining to school projects identified for fundraising support.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing or a related subject
  • Experience of fundraising in a not-for-profit environment
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in fundraising and communications with a track record of increasing responsibility and success
  • Strong writing skills and ability to tailor a writing style to fit the intended audience and format (Email, print, social media, etc.)
  • Design skills and familiarity with image and/or video editing
  • Familiarity with database software (Raisers Edge is an advantage)
  • Strong communication skills - phone, in-person, email

  • General understanding of independent school education, philanthropy and school

communications

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, Google applications, presentation software and content management systems
  • Endorse the school’s mission and vision statement


The base annual salary for this position is competitive and falls within the range of $59,000 - $72,000. The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, and relevant experience in accordance with BC labour laws and company policies.
