Description

The Senior Thrift Store Sales Associate provides service to customers, sort incoming product, and is responsible for the operation of the TS alongside TS Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet and interact with customers/donors in a positive, friendly, and courteous manner.
  • Be knowledgeable regarding product pricing and featured sale products; protect the integrity of all donated items.
  • Responsible for accurate completion of all customer transactions including cash and debit sales with minimal voids, overages, or shortages.
  • Adhere to store policy regarding cheques, credit cards, refunds, voids, and holds.
  • Process raw materials by loading/unloading, sorting, packing, pricing, and storing donations.
  • Pay attention to store security, by monitoring activity within the store.
  • Assist with store layout plans to attract customers, which include window displays and merchandise displays; ensures attractiveness of the store through "Tidy Maintenance".
  • Maintain the proper sorting and processing of all donated goods, ensure compliance with quality standards; that all products are priced correctly as per store policy.
  • Directs all operations of the Thrift store with direction from the TS Manager
  • Monitors performance, Health & Safety, and employee/labour relations and provides feedback to Store Manager
  • Takes responsibility for staff safety by ensuring overall compliance with all safety procedures and by monitoring Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Monitors loss prevention program in compliance with the budget
  • Oversees and/or participates in facility management including cleaning, maintenance, repairs in/outside and grounds maintenance. As well as safety.
  • Lock up sales cash and receipts at the end of each shift
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:

  • Completion of High School
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Experience:

  • Have a minimum of three (3) months of prior related experience.
  • Cash handling experience is required.
  • Knowledge and experience using a cash register, debit machine and/or credit card processing is a definite asset.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated/disciplined // Good Listening and Oral/Written Communication Skills
  • Lead by example, by demonstrating a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and be flexible in the face of change.
  • Ability to maintain information in confidence and exercise good judgement.

HOURS // Working Conditions:

  • This is a permanent Full-time position based on up to 32 hours per week.
  • Hours of work and work schedule will be set as per Thrift Store operational requirements with varying shifts. Flexibility in scheduling is required.
  • Ability to stand for long periods with frequent twisting, bending, crouching, and reaching is required.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • Background check consent.
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening.
  • A clean drivers abstract.
  • Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.
