Nippon Express USA helps its parent company, Japan-based transportation giant Nippon Express, move customers' cargo around the world. Nippon Express USA provides a variety of freight transportation services, including customs brokerage, freight forwarding, logistics, supply chain management, and warehousing and distribution. (As a freight forwarder, Nippon Express USA buys transportation capacity from carriers and resells it to customers.) Along with its freight transportation offerings, Nippon Express USA works with its parent to facilitate international moving of household goods. Operating through about 140 offices, the company expanded in 2012 through the acquisition of Associated Global Systems (AGS). Buying AGS added more than 70 offices to Nippon Express USA's already extensive network. Founded in 1958, AGS provides logistics services to customers in more than 200 countries around the globe through 400 locations in total. In addition to adding size and scope to its network, the deal enhanced Nippon Express USA's own complementary freight forwarding, residential delivery, and e-commerce services. Before the acquisition, Nippon Express USA catered primarily to Japanese companies, delivering goods from Asia and Japan to clients' warehouses in the US.
