Sales Manager About the Company Our client is an established and growing organization operating within the waste management and disposal sector. The company provides essential services to commercial, industrial, construction, and property-management customers and is focused on delivering reliable service, competitive solutions, and long-term customer relationships. Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead and develop the sales team while driving profitable revenue growth across the organization. Reporting to senior management, the Sales Manager will oversee sales performance, develop new business opportunities, strengthen existing customer relationships, and ensure the sales team consistently meets or exceeds established targets. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to an experienced sales professional who can coach and motivate a team, establish accountability, identify new opportunities, and work closely with internal operations to ensure customer commitments are successfully delivered. Key Responsibilities Sales Leadership & Team Management Lead, manage, coach, and motivate the sales team to achieve individual and company-wide objectives. Establish clear individual and team sales targets and ensure accountability for results. Conduct regular sales meetings and performance reviews to assess pipelines, prospects, opportunities, and results. Monitor sales activity and ensure sales representatives maintain a consistent and disciplined approach to prospecting and account development. Recruit, onboard, train, develop, and evaluate sales team members as required. Address performance concerns and implement appropriate improvement plans when necessary. Business Development Develop and execute strategies to generate new business and expand the company's customer base. Ensure the sales team actively targets commercial, industrial, construction, and property-management accounts. Identify new markets, prospects, and revenue opportunities. Develop strategies for territory and account growth while maximizing sales potential. Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and decision-makers. Account Management & Customer Retention Develop strategies to retain and grow existing customer accounts. Monitor contract renewals, customer retention, and lost business. Identify opportunities to increase customer penetration and share of wallet. Work proactively with customers and internal teams to resolve issues and protect key relationships. Pricing, Proposals & Tenders Review and manage RFPs, tenders, and other competitive sales opportunities. Oversee the preparation, pricing, and submission of proposals. Review and approve pricing, proposals, tenders, and major customer agreements. Monitor market conditions, competitor pricing, margins, and overall profitability. Ensure sales strategies support both revenue growth and acceptable margins. Forecasting & Reporting Monitor sales performance against targets and key performance indicators. Provide senior management with regular sales reports, forecasts, pipeline updates, and performance results. Maintain accurate visibility into current opportunities, anticipated revenue, and future sales activity. Analyze sales performance and market trends to identify areas for improvement and growth. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Operations, Dispatch, and Management to ensure customer commitments are realistic, achievable, and properly communicated. Collaborate with internal teams to address customer requirements and resolve service issues. Ensure alignment between sales commitments, operational capabilities, pricing, and profitability. Qualifications & Experience Proven experience managing and leading a sales team. Demonstrated success in business development, customer acquisition, and revenue growth. Experience within waste management, disposal, recycling, construction, transportation, or a related industry is preferred. Strong leadership, coaching, communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills. Demonstrated ability to establish measurable objectives and hold a sales team accountable for performance. Strong understanding of sales pricing, margins, profitability, customer retention, and contract management. Strong business acumen and analytical capabilities. Experience reviewing proposals, tenders, RFPs, and commercial agreements. A background in accounting, finance, or financial analysis is considered an asset, particularly in relation to pricing, margins, profitability, and contract analysis. Leadership Profile The successful candidate will be a hands-on, results-oriented sales leader who is comfortable balancing strategic planning with day-to-day sales management. They will be an effective coach and communicator who knows how to establish clear expectations, create accountability, develop talent, and lead from the front. The ideal candidate will combine strong business-development capabilities with a practical understanding of customer retention, pricing, margins, and profitability. They will be motivated by building a high-performing sales culture and consistently delivering profitable, sustainable revenue growth.
