About the role
The Senior Multi-Unit Account Manager – Grocery Division is accountable for the strategic growth and long-term success of Russell Hendrix’s regional and national grocery partnerships across Canada. This role focuses on driving revenue, margin performance, and enterprise-level value across multi-location accounts through disciplined account planning, strong relationships, and data-informed decision-making.
Serving as the primary liaison between Russell Hendrix and key grocery customers, the role leads cross-functional coordination across sales, procurement, distribution, and vendor partners to deliver scalable, consistent solutions at every location. The position requires the ability to operate effectively at both operational and executive levels, translating customer strategy into actionable internal plans.
This is an opportunity for an experienced account leader with strong commercial acumen and the confidence to influence across complex customer and internal environments.

What You’ll Do
Account Management & Growth
- Manage and grow a portfolio of regional and national grocery accounts across multiple locations
- Identify and execute opportunities to increase revenue, margin, and product penetration within existing accounts
- Develop and implement strategic account plans aligned with customer business objectives and Russell Hendrix priorities
- Analyze sales performance, customer trends, and market conditions to inform recommendations and actions
Networking & Relationship Management
- Build, nurture, and maintain strong relationships with customer stakeholders across all levels, from store operations to executive leadership
- Develop internal partnerships across Russell Hendrix profit centres to maximize customer value
- Strengthen relationships with vendor partners to support joint opportunities, innovation, and cost optimization
- Facilitate effective information sharing across internal and external stakeholders
Top-to-Top Communication
- Establish structured communication between Russell Hendrix leadership and customer senior leadership
- Lead and participate in executive-level business reviews
- Translate customer strategies into actionable internal plans
- Ensure alignment on goals, expectations, and outcomes
Regional & National Business Development
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the grocery division
- Support expansion of existing accounts into new regions, banners, or formats
- Partner with internal teams to develop scalable multi-unit solutions
- Monitor competitive activity and market dynamics
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with procurement, distribution, eCommerce, and operations teams to ensure seamless customer program execution
- Align inventory, pricing, and assortments to support multi-unit consistency
- Ensure customer-specific programs (pricing, assortments, terms) are accurately implemented and maintained
- Work closely with Accounts Receivables to maintain account health and resolve issues proactively
Vendor & Product Strategy
- Partner with vendors on product innovation, cost savings, and assortment optimization
- Manage product listings, rationalization, and standardization across customer locations
- Support development of scalable product programs tailored to grocery environments
Travel & Field Engagement
- Travel regularly across Canada to meet with customers and support business development
- Participate in internal strategy sessions and cross-functional meetings
- Represent Russell Hendrix at customer locations, industry events, and vendor engagements
What You Bring
Education and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in account management, multi-unit sales, or grocery/retail environments
- Experience managing regional or national accounts is preferred
- Post-secondary education in business or related field is an asset
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong relationship-building and influencing skills across all organizational levels
- Proven ability to manage and grow complex, multi-location accounts
- Strategic thinker with strong commercial and financial acumen
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including executive-level interactions
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret sales and margin data
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently
