JOB TITLE: Copywriter DEPARTMENT: Corporate, Marketing TEAM: Communications REPORTS TO: Director, Communications EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time, permanent, hybrid About the Opportunity As the team’s internal Copywriter, your focus will be on producing a steady flow of SEO-optimized content. You’ll also be the champion of brand voice and tone—defining it, protecting it, and ensuring it shows up consistently across every communication channel.
Reporting to the Director, Communications, you’ll collaborate with Creative Production, Web, UX Design, Product, Programs, and Commercial teams to ensure every message is clear, consistent, and unmistakably ours. Your work will help us continue to lead the industry with a voice that is distinctly its own.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation & SEO · Research, write, and edit 8–12 SEO-optimized content pieces per month across all our websites (Contractor, Commercial, Homeowner) applying SEO best practices to improve organic ranking and search visibility. · Produce a variety of content including blogs, articles, how-to guides, case studies, FAQs, white papers, and region-specific pages.
Editorial Review & Brand Stewardship • Lead the development, review, and approval workflow for all copywriting edits and net-new content creation for the our website optimization project, including coordination and management of external agency partners. • Review and edit copy from Product, Programs, and Commercial teams to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with our brand tone including Web page content, Brochures, Email copy, New Product launch messages, Awards of Excellence feature project and more. • Champion the development and maintenance of the our copywriting tone and identity standards guide. • Coach internal teams and external partners on brand voice and writing best practices. • Support internal communications (employee newsletters, leadership messages, culture initiatives) when needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration · Partner with the UX Designer to optimize landing pages for SEO, paid campaigns, and conversion performance. · Support the Creative Production team with copy for annual product catalogs across Residential, Commercial, and Natural Stone categories. · Work with subject matter experts across regional operations to gather insights and transform them into engaging content. · Collaborate with the rest of the Communications team to adapt content for additional channels. Content Strategy & Optimization · Audit legacy content and recommend updates to improve clarity, consistency, and SEO performance. · Contribute to content planning and editorial calendars.
Press & External Communications · Lead the development of press releases for key announcements. · Work with agency partners to secure publication coverage and amplify Unilock industry presence.
Skills & Experience You are a collaborative and relationship-focused communicator who thrives on partnering with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams. You enjoy learning complex topics, from building products to installation best practices, and translating them into clear, engaging content. Highly organized and adaptable, you can effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines while maintaining a consistent brand voice and strong attention to detail.
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. • 3–5+ years of professional copywriting experience in marketing, communications, content strategy or creative agency. • Proven experience writing SEO-optimized content with measurable performance improvements. • Strong ability to translate technical or complex information into clear, engaging content.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills with a strong command of grammar, clarity, and storytelling. • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing multiple deadlines. • Understanding of UX writing principles and how copy influences user behavior. • Experience working within or maintaining brand standards and voice guidelines. • Experience supporting PR or media relations. • Experience in construction, building materials, architecture, or hardscape industries an asset.
