Role Description This is a full-time Sales Engineer role based in Ottawa, ON, with a hybrid work arrangement that allows a mix of on-site and work-from-home. The Sales Engineer will engage with existing and prospective customers to understand technical requirements, present appropriate photonics solutions, and support the sales cycle from initial inquiry through post-sales follow-up. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and delivering product demonstrations, technical presentations, and quotations; responding to technical questions; and coordinating with engineering and product teams to ensure customer needs are met. The role also involves providing technical support for tunable lasers, optical measurement systems, and related components, managing customer relationships, and maintaining accurate records in CRM and reporting tools. The Sales Engineer will collaborate closely with global sales, marketing, and support teams to help grow business in North America and contribute feedback on market trends and product improvements. Qualifications Strong Sales Engineering and Sales skills, including solution-based selling and understanding of photonics or optical technologies. Experience in Technical Support and Customer Service, with the ability to troubleshoot issues and provide clear, timely assistance. Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal, for working with customers, internal teams, and global stakeholders. Relevant technical background, such as a diploma or degree in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related field. Ability to interpret technical specifications and application requirements for lasers, optical components, and measurement systems. Comfort with hybrid work, including visiting customer sites and working in the Ottawa, ON office as needed. Proficiency with standard business software (e.g., CRM systems, presentation and spreadsheet tools); experience in B2B technical sales is an asset. Demonstrated problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a customer-focused mindset; prior experience in the photonics
