About the role
The Opportunity Our client, a well-established Canadian real estate investment and management organization, is seeking a Manager, Corporate Tax to join its collaborative in-house finance and tax team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Canadian tax professional to join a sophisticated investment environment with exposure to complex real estate and private equity fund structures. The role combines tax compliance with involvement in tax planning, transactions, restructurings, and other strategic initiatives.
Reporting to senior leadership, the successful candidate will work closely with experienced tax professionals and stakeholders across the organization.
Key Responsibilities Prepare and review corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns and related filings. Manage tax compliance requirements across complex real estate investment and partnership structures. Maintain tax working papers, reconciliations, provisions, and corporate and partnership tax attributes. Support tax planning and the execution of acquisitions, dispositions, restructurings, and other transactions. Research Canadian tax issues and provide practical recommendations. Assist with CRA correspondence, audits, enquiries, and other tax matters. Collaborate with internal business teams and external tax advisors. Support special projects and broader finance and investment initiatives as required. Contribute to process improvements and the modernization of tax workflows.
Qualifications & Experience CPA designation. 5+ years of progressive Canadian tax experience gained in public accounting, real estate, private equity, a family office, or a sophisticated in-house tax environment. Strong Canadian corporate and partnership tax experience. Experience with complex partnership structures and related compliance requirements. Comfortable working in a hands-on role with significant responsibility for tax preparation and execution. Strong technical tax research, analytical, and Excel skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a collaborative environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with real estate investment or private equity fund structures. Experience with Taxprep Corporate and Partnership. Completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program or a Master of Taxation. Previous experience within a Big Four or other large public accounting firm.
