About the role
We are hiring. We don't do this often. Our staff have a tendency to stay. 34 years for our warehouse manager, 20 years for one salesman, 15 years for another, 10 years for the assistant warehouse manager. Even the part-timer who is going to school to become a teacher is going on 5 years. We hired another salesperson 14 months ago and he is very happy making very good money; Took us a year to find him. We are in need of a salesperson. Part time to start and maybe full time. Company hours are on our website, and you must be willing to work any of those hours. Must be computer-literate squirrel, familiar with a Point-of-Sale platform such as STORIS, some sort of till. Will be asked to generate signs on the computer, dust, keep the store clean, and treat all people who come in the door with respect as much as is possible. Role Description The Comfort Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Winnipeg focused on helping customers find the ideal mattress, bed, and sleep accessories for their comfort and lifestyle needs. Each day, the Comfort Specialist greets and engages customers on the showroom floor, asks questions to understand sleep preferences, and lets the customer decide appropriate products and configurations based on their own experience. The role includes demonstrating product benefits, preparing quotes, processing sales transactions, and coordinating delivery or pickup. The Comfort Specialist also maintains an organized and welcoming showroom, updates product knowledge regularly, and supports merchandising, inventory checks, and promotional displays. This position works as part of a small, collaborative team to deliver an exceptional in-store experience and meet individual and store sales goals.
Qualifications Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build rapport, listen actively, and provide personalized recommendations. Sales and consultative selling abilities, with comfort explaining product benefits, handling objections, and closing sales in a retail environment. Basic computer and point-of-sale (POS) skills, including data entry, order processing, and use of inventory or customer management systems. Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple customers, follow up on leads, and keep the showroom tidy and well-presented. Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical or comfort-related product features in simple terms. Ability to stand and move around the showroom for extended periods and safely assist with light product movement when required. Previous retail, furniture, or mattress sales experience is an asset, but motivated candidates with strong people skills are encouraged to apply. Willingness to learn about sleep health, product lines, and industry trends, and to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
