About the role

ABOUT BONDI PRODUCE Bondi Produce & Specialty Foods Co. is a progressive, family-owned food distribution company with a sharp focus on fresh produce and specialty ingredients. We are a recognized brand among Toronto and Ottawa’s most distinguished chefs and foodservice operators — and we are relentless in our pursuit of being the most trusted, forward-thinking distributor in the province. We move fast, obsess the details, and take pride in making it happen for our clients, every single day.

THE OPPORTUNITY We are looking for a motivated, commercially minded Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our Client Services (Sales) team in Ottawa. This is a high-energy, client-facing role responsible for both growing new business and nurturing existing accounts.

The Business Development Representative (BDR) will be a key member of our Client Services (Sales) team, working closely with our clients. The BDR reports to the Sales Manager and is responsible for successfully managing customer relations, ensuring client satisfaction, identifying growth opportunities and aligning our solutions with business goals. A quick learner of internal tools and technologies is a must. The BDR should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including a high level of comfort with Excel, and be able to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where no two days look the same.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Business Development Main point of contact for all client day-to-day communication and oversight; owns overall client satisfaction and proactively identifies opportunities to optimize, retain, and identify upselling business. Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients. Lead discovery calls and in-person meetings to understand prospect needs. Drive new account acquisition by prospecting, qualifying, and converting target foodservice operators into active Bondi customers across Ottawa and surrounding areas.

  2. Account Management and Growth Monitor account performance using sales data and reports; flag risks and opportunities to the sales manager. Ensure timely and successful delivery to customer needs. Manage the full onboarding process for new accounts, ensuring a seamless launch experience. Resolve client issues quickly and effectively.

  3. Data, Reporting & Service Excellence Leverage Excel and internal tools to analyze account-level sales data, build reports, and surface insights that inform retention and upselling. Track and evaluate key service metrics. Maintain accurate account records and pipeline activity in internal CRM and order management systems.

  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration Act as the internal voice of the client — channeling product feedback, service gaps, and market insights to the relevant teams across the organization. Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., sales, marketing, customer support) to improve customer experience. Work with the Procurement team to coordinate any specialty product orders outside of Bondi’s usual assortment of goods. Function as a key liaison across Sales, Customer Service, Logistics, and Purchasing — ensuring internal alignment on client priorities.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR 2+ years of B2B sales, business development, or account management experience Background in food distribution, foodservice, grocery, or a related industry is a strong asset Proven ability to prospect, develop, and close new business while managing existing accounts Strong communication and presentation skills — comfortable in front of chefs, buyers, and procurement teams Analytical mindset with solid Excel skills; comfortable reading sales data and building basic reports Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Self-starter with high ownership mentality — you don’t wait to be told what to do Valid G driver’s license and access to a vehicle (client visits required) Post-secondary education in business, sales, marketing, or a related field preferred Comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where initiative is rewarded and no two days look the same.

WHY BONDI Bondi Produce is one of the GTA’s fastest-growing food distribution companies — a Deloitte Best Managed Company recognized for its culture, operational excellence, and relentless drive. When you join Bondi, you’re joining a team that genuinely cares about doing good work, moving fast, and building something together.
