Role Description The Business Development Manager is a full-time, hybrid role based in Surrey, BC, with flexibility for some work from home. This role focuses on identifying and developing new business opportunities, nurturing strategic relationships, and expanding the reach of FME across key industries and regions. Day-to-day work includes prospecting and qualifying leads, conducting discovery calls, preparing and delivering product presentations and demos, and collaborating with marketing and technical teams to create compelling proposals. The Business Development Manager will manage a sales pipeline, negotiate commercial terms, and ensure a smooth handoff to account management and customer success teams. This position also involves analyzing market trends, providing feedback to product and leadership teams, and representing Safe Software at industry events, conferences, and webinars. Qualifications Business development and sales skills, including prospecting, lead qualification, pipeline management, and deal negotiation. Relationship-building and communication skills to engage with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders across diverse industries. Strategic thinking and market analysis capabilities to identify new opportunities, understand industry trends, and contribute to go-to-market plans. Presentation and storytelling skills to clearly explain complex data and technology solutions and demonstrate value to technical and non-technical audiences. Experience working with software, data, or technology products; familiarity with data integration, GIS, or related tools is an asset. Comfort collaborating in cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, and technical specialists, in a hybrid work environment. Self-directed work style with strong organizational and time-management skills to balance multiple opportunities and deadlines. Post-secondary education in business, marketing, technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of experience and training.
