About the Role
This is more than a sales role.
As our Manager, Business Development & Marketing, you'll help drive the growth of Power Play by building meaningful client relationships, generating new business opportunities, supporting our marketing efforts, and telling the stories behind our work.
You'll work closely with the President and senior leadership team to develop growth strategies, strengthen our brand, and help position Power Play as one of Canada's most trusted event partners.
Success in this role requires someone who enjoys networking, thinking strategically, creating content, and building long-term partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Partnerships Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities across corporate, association, government, and not-for-profit sectors. Develop and manage a healthy sales pipeline through strategic prospecting, networking, referrals, and outreach. Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing clients. Lead discovery meetings and identify opportunities to expand existing client partnerships. Prepare customized proposals, presentations, budgets, and pitch materials. Negotiate and close new business opportunities while meeting annual revenue goals. Represent Power Play at industry events, conferences, networking functions, and client meetings.
Marketing & Brand Growth Help develop and execute Power Play's marketing strategy. Create engaging content for LinkedIn, the company website, email campaigns, and other digital platforms. Develop client case studies, event recaps, testimonials, and thought leadership content. Coordinate content capture (photo and video) before, during, and after events. Assist with award and speaking submissions, proposal templates, and promotional materials. Monitor industry trends and recommend marketing opportunities that strengthen Power Play's brand.
Client Experience Work collaboratively with our operations and production teams to ensure a seamless transition from sales to execution. Attend client meetings, site visits, and events to strengthen relationships and identify future opportunities. Support strategic account planning and identify opportunities to grow existing partnerships. Serve as a brand ambassador by delivering an exceptional client experience at every touchpoint.
Strategic Growth Research emerging industries, markets, and opportunities. Track sales activity, pipeline performance, and marketing initiatives through CRM and reporting tools. Identify strategic partnerships, sponsorship opportunities, and collaborative ventures that align with Power Play's growth objectives. Contribute ideas that improve internal processes, marketing efforts, and business development strategies.
What We're Looking For 3–5+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, marketing, account management, or a related role. Experience within the events, hospitality, experiential marketing, agency, tourism, sponsorship, or live events industry is a strong asset. Proven ability to build relationships and generate new business opportunities. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. Experience preparing proposals, presentations, and client pitches. Strong understanding of LinkedIn and digital marketing best practices. Experience creating social media content, marketing campaigns, or thought leadership content. Highly organized with strong project management skills. Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and comfortable working independently. Passion for live events and creating meaningful experiences. Experience with CRM platforms, Canva, Google Workspace, AI tools, and marketing platforms is considered an asset.
