We are a team of enthusiastic individuals who are dedicated to meeting and exceeding the needs of the customers we serve.Job DescriptionAs a Counter Salesperson/Shipper Receiver, you will provide sales support to walk-in customers who come to our Profit Centre counter. You will provide the highest level of customer service by maintaining, stocking, and keeping a clean counter sales area. In addition, you will provide support to customers by answering questions, picking, and entering orders.  You will be responsible for packing, and shipping customer orders as well as counting, verifying, receiving, and putting away incoming vendor material and customer returns. A high attention to detail will ensure exceptional levels of customer service and satisfaction.Additional duties:Counter duties include:Assist customers who purchase material at the Profit Centre counterResearch product for customers and provide recommendations on our assortment of productDrive sales growth through ownership of counter merchandising, and product promotion, while networking with customers at the counterEnter, pick, and pack sales orders generated at the counterMaintain and clean the counter area including any merchandising displaysInform the buyer when stocks levels are low and of any inventory discrepancies and damaged/defective material that would impact customer service levelsMaintain warehouse cleanliness and safety by removing empty cartons, metal banding, pallets, and other debrisReceiving duties include:Upon unloading vendor shipments or customer returns, obtain the packing slip and verify material received. Note any discrepancies or damaged materialIdentify special order material and damaged material and store in proper locationNote all shipping discrepancies on freight carrier’s Bill of Lading, initiate freight claims and forward paperwork to appropriate teammateShipping duties include:Drive the EMCO truck in a safe manner and in compliance with company policy, applicable traffic laws and provincial Ministry of Transportation legislation. Destinations include job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, other EMCO locations, other wholesaler facilities and any other location as directed by managementPick customer orders and load the truck at the Profit Centre with material to be delivered curb side to customers or vendors while ensuring the necessary equipment to safely load the truck is availableSecure loads properly following all legislation, ensuring nothing will shift, get damaged or fall from the truckPerform other tasks as requested by the Profit Centre ManagerQualificationsGrade 12 diploma or equivalent; College and/or University degree an assetA minimum of 2 years of experience with customer service or counter salesOutstanding customer service and verbal communication skillsExcellent relationship building skills with customers, vendors, and teammatesAbility to learn and operate the applicable software system used to process ordersExperience working in a fast-paced environmentAbility to learn and operate material handling equipmentAbility to safely operate a delivery vehiclePossess a valid driver’s licenseA clean driver’s abstract that demonstrates good driving skills in compliance with company policyExperience driving a truck and making deliveries preferredKnowledge of the laws and regulations governing driving motor vehicles and commercial vehicles subject to Provincial Ministry of Transportation regulationsIntermediate math skills with a strong attention to detailPossess a strong work ethic and a high standard of integrityAbility to work well independently and in a team settingPreferred Skills:Previous experience with or knowledge of plumbing and building products sold at the Profit CentreAbility to use the Internet as a resource to problem solve and find alternative solutions for customersExperience using Word, Excel, and OutlookAdditional InformationWhy Join Our Team?EMCO Corporation is one of Canada’s largest integrated wholesale distributors of plumbing, HVAC, waterworks, and industrial products for the construction industry.
