BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT REPRESENTATIVE – CANADA

Scotwork North America is looking for a Business Development Representative to build the pipeline that feeds our growth. Our methodology is built on decades of real negotiation data, and our clients recommend us at a 98.2% rate — the conversations you start are the front door to that work.

This is a launchpad role for someone early in their B2B sales career who wants real coaching, real ownership of a pipeline, and a clear next step into Account Executive — not a script to read from a call list.

ABOUT THE ROLE Reporting to the VP of Sales, you’ll research target accounts, run outbound outreach across phone, email, and LinkedIn, and convert that work into qualified meetings for our sales team. This goes beyond traditional prospecting — you’ll map decision-makers within named accounts and tailor your message to each prospect’s actual commercial pressures, not a generic pitch.

You’ll work new accounts and dormant accounts to find where Scotwork can deepen its impact, and you’ll get direct exposure to senior sales leadership and executive-level conversations from day one. This isn’t a high-volume dialer job. You’ll be opening conversations with senior stakeholders about real commercial pressures — tariffs, supplier consolidation, margin compression — so the research and preparation behind each outreach matters as much as the activity itself.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR Successful candidates typically bring: • 1–3 years of experience in business development, inside sales, or B2B sales — professional services or training/consulting background preferred, but not required • Comfort engaging senior stakeholders — you don’t need 10 years of experience, but you need to be unafraid of a VP-level conversation • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the discipline to research before you reach out • Experience with Salesforce or a comparable CRM, and modern sales engagement tools • A self-starter attitude and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset — you’ll work closely with sales and marketing, not in isolation • Based in Canada, with the ability to work remotely and reasonable proximity to a major airport for occasional team and client travel WHAT YOU’LL DO • Identify and research target accounts aligned with Scotwork’s ideal client profile • Develop and execute outbound outreach campaigns across phone, email, and LinkedIn • Qualify opportunities and schedule high-quality meetings for the sales team • Map decision-makers and buying groups within named accounts • Tailor messaging to each prospect’s industry, commercial pressures, and negotiation challenges • Collaborate closely with sales and marketing to keep outreach coordinated and on message • Share feedback on campaign effectiveness, messaging resonance, and market response to help refine target lists and prospecting strategy

COMPENSATION This role carries an on-target earnings (OTE) of $100K CAD to $125K CAD, combining base pay with performance-based commission tied to qualified meetings and pipeline generated.
