Employment Status: Permanent, Full-time, In-Person ~ covering our Leduc and Devon locations.

Compensation: This position has a guaranteed base salary plus commission structure.

The primary accountability of the role is to provide the full financial planning experience to mid net worth members by completing discovery, analysis, implementation and ongoing monitoring to ensure members achieve their financial goals, and in doing so they deliver a superior member experience.

You also play a key role in the delivery of wealth services to our entire membership by being part of a team that encompasses our membership base. Our Financial Planners fulfill that role by uncovering the full financial needs of our members and referring those members to a Financial Advisor, Business Banking Advisor, Senior Wealth Advisor, Wealth Specialist, or other partners within the fully integrated Servus network.

They foster an environment where employees on the team benefit from professional growth and development by taking an active role. They possess effective business habits and are accountable for the meeting/exceeding both of personal and corporate goals including the retention and acquisition of new members.

What You'll be Doing:

  • Play an active role in supporting the mutual fund sales activities of Licensed Financial Advisors in the branches they support. They will live the brand by ensuring members feel at home, leverage the fully integrated financial services platform and promote Servus Credit Union as a good corporate citizen.
  • Deliver the full financial planning experience by implementing the CFP’s six steps of financial planning – including discovery, gathering data, analysis, presentation of the financial plan, implementation and ongoing monitoring (annual reviews) to target market.
  • Maintain up to date Financial Planning and investment industry knowledge by participating in training programs/industry courses to upgrade skills, obtain and maintain accreditation and licensing requirements.
  • Be proactive in pursuing external/internal business opportunities by: retention of existing member base and actively soliciting new business, reviewing marketing data to determine new market potential, and leveraging opportunities with existing members through in branch/telephone communication.
  • Monitor and ensure personal and corporate goals are being met/exceeded.
  • Establish and implement a sales plan that focuses on the retaining/attracting new members with mid net worth developing internal referral sources, centers of influence (COI’s), improving profitability with existing members, developing business from existing members and retention of members.
  • Build a financial planning practice with a member-centric focus, leveraging tools including all financial service considerations and build a network of Servus partners.

What you Bring:

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the financial services industry including securities and compliance.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial planning, products, policies, procedures and operations.

Education and Training:

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Responsible Investment Specialist (RIS) designation
  • Financial Planning designation (CFP)
  • Investment Funds in Canada
  • MFDA license
