About the role
Business Development Representative Lead Generation and Pipeline Development | Eastern Canada Consulting Contractor | Remote (Canada-wide) | Preference: Mississauga Region
What We Do
Strategic HSE is a Canadian transportation safety and compliance firm. We work with carriers, insurance brokers and shippers across North America on the unglamorous parts of running a fleet: regulatory compliance, safety performance, claims defence, audit prep, captive insurance structures, and platform integrations. The work is technical, the stakes are real, and the clients are decision-makers. Our motto: We Win Together. All In, Always. Our standard: Audit Ready. Every Day.
We are Canada’s exclusive managed services partner for Fleetworthy’s CPSuite platform. The work itself is white-glove compliance with teeth. We don’t sell software. We’re the linkage between the carrier and the data the platform produces. We advocate for the carrier through investigations, audits, regulatory issues, and insurance renewals.
We are expanding across the country and building our consulting contractor network to lead that growth. You will be joining a team of BD professionals actively developing pipeline from coast to coast. This is a remote position open to consulting contractors anywhere in Canada. If you are based in the Mississauga region, preference will be given to your application, given our focus on the Ontario market.
The Role Strategic HSE is seeking an ambitious, curious, and driven Business Development Representative to join our growing team as a consulting contractor. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys identifying new business opportunities, engaging prospective clients, and creating pipeline through strategic prospecting, relationship building, and account development. You will play a critical role in expanding Strategic HSE's market presence by generating and closing qualified opportunities.
You will be responsible for proactively identifying and engaging commercial transportation fleets that align with Strategic HSE's ideal customer profile through outbound prospecting, account-based selling strategies, industry events, networking, and targeted outreach campaigns. The successful candidate will be highly organized, commercially minded, and comfortable leveraging modern sales technologies, including HubSpot, LinkedIn, AI-assisted research tools, and sales engagement platforms.
What Will You Be Doing
Build targeted prospect lists and research key decision-makers at commercial transportation fleets that align with Strategic HSE's ideal customer profile, with a primary focus on Ontario and Quebec. Execute outbound prospecting through cold calls, email, LinkedIn, referrals, account-based selling strategies, industry events, and targeted outreach campaigns. No-fear prospecting is a baseline expectation. Schedule and conduct discovery meetings, deliver CP Suite demonstrations, develop custom proposals, and lead negotiations through to contract close. Own and manage your pipeline in HubSpot from first contact to close. Every lead, every activity, and every deal stage is documented and up to date. Non-negotiable. Host a standing weekly sales meeting with the Strategic HSE leadership team and submit a completed weekly scorecard before each call. Produce creative outreach strategies for targeting decision-makers and influencing pipeline momentum. Support account retention and renewal advocacy on clients you originate. Bring field intelligence back to the team: what prospects are saying, what is resonating, what the competition is doing, and where the market is moving. Represent Strategic HSE with professionalism and a high sense of urgency on every call, email, and meeting.
What We Are Looking For
You do not need a compliance background. You need to be curious about how Strategic HSE solves real problems for carriers, ambitious enough to find those carriers, and disciplined enough to work a pipeline to close deals. Here is what matters:
Proven B2B business development or field sales experience. Transportation, logistics, fleet, or SaaS backgrounds are a strong asset. An existing carrier or fleet network in Ontario and Quebec is a significant advantage. Metric-driven with a solution-based mindset. You track your own numbers, and you know when to adjust. Self-starter with superior time management and organizational skills. You manage your own pipeline without daily direction and bring a growth mindset to every conversation. Strong written and verbal communication skills. You represent Strategic HSE every time you reach out to a prospect. Comfortable leveraging modern sales technologies: HubSpot CRM, LinkedIn, AI-assisted research tools, and sales engagement platforms. CRM discipline is non-negotiable. Comfortable presenting a compliance technology platform to a fleet operator at a high level. Growth mindset. Willing to learn the product, the industry, and the craft of selling in this space. A post-secondary degree or diploma is considered an asset. Track record and results matter more.
Compensation
This is a consulting contractor role. Compensation is performance-based with no ceiling on what you can earn. Your income is a direct reflection of the pipeline you build and the deals you close.
We pay commission on every deal you originate and close, plus a retention tail on every active client you bring in. The more you build, the more you earn, year after year. Full compensation details, including commission structure and retention incentives, are shared with shortlisted candidates.
If you have the network and the drive to work it, this role pays well. There is no cap.
What We Offer
Ground floor territory with real earning upside 16 years of brand credibility behind every conversation Active BD team building national pipeline alongside you Weekly leadership alignment and strategic support Retention tail that grows as your book grows A proven platform: CP Suite powered by Fleetworthy HubSpot CRM, Microsoft 365, and OneDrive fully set up A role that builds with the company as we scale
