Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.
Reporting directly to the Student Recruitment Service Partner for the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Student Recruiter position will work as part of a dedicated action team that will support all undergraduate student recruitment activities within the College of Social Sciences and Humanities (which includes Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Education, and Alberta School of Business).
As an important team member within Student Recruitment in the Office of the Registrar, the Student Recruiter position at the College-level is responsible for the dissemination of information and effective promotion of the University of Alberta to prospective high school and post-secondary transfer students. This exciting and diverse position is also responsible for event planning, preparing and delivering presentations, answering prospective student and applicant email inquiries, advising, organizing and executing administrative recruitment details, researching recruitment trends, and more. These duties enable us to recruit exceptional prospective students to the faculties within the College of Social Sciences & Humanities, as well as to the broader university.
The hours of work for this position will be varied, including a requirement to work occasional evenings and weekends. This position requires overtime, travel within the Edmonton & surrounding area, as well as possible travel within Alberta/Canada.
The Office of the Registrar (RO) plays a key role in every aspect of the student experience, from recruitment to graduation and beyond. The RO also supports the broader campus community, including faculties, departments, and other units.

Targets select high schools and special events to recruit prospective students via engaging presentations, booth fairs, and recruitment events. Promotes the University of Alberta's programs and cultivates relationships with prospective high school students, supporters, and counsellors - including extensive public speaking.

Provides on-campus and virtual advising to prospective students, parents, and guests in both 1:1 and group settings.

Responds to a high volume of email inquiries about the university, programs, work integrated learning opportunities, student services, admission requirements, admission status, and more.

Works closely with all positions within the College recruitment action team, as well as Student Recruitment, to address the strategic needs of the faculties within the College and the University of Alberta. Brainstorms and proposes new and innovative ideas to improve prospective student engagement for the purpose of recruitment.

Engages audiences in an age-appropriate, culturally aware, and inclusive manner.

Plans and executes College and faculty-specific special events, including Open House, Registration Workshops, Information Sessions, Advising sessions, and other special events, both virtual and in-person.

Evaluates attended recruitment initiatives by reporting prospective engagement, lead generation, number of publications provided, event attendance, and other meaningful notes describing the purpose and utility of the event for evaluation and future planning purposes.

Keeps admitted students engaged and continually conveys the value of attending the U of A; plans and implements yield initiatives accordingly.

Performs other duties as required.

Bachelor's Degree, equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

One to two years of related experience is an asset.

Experience presenting to small and large groups.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.

Exceptional interpersonal skills, cross-cultural sensitivity, and ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with a variety of partners.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite (Gmail, etc).

Must possess a valid Alberta Class 5 (non-GDL) driver’s license.

Must be able to provide a recent copy of a three-year driver’s abstract with no more than six (6) demerits and/or two (2) moving violations within the last two years.

Knowledge of the University of Alberta policies and procedures is an asset.

Knowledge of PeopleSoft, Slate, and/or Fresh Service is considered an asset.

Knowledge of post-secondary institutions, options, policies, and procedures, including basic transfer and credit information, is considered an asset.
