Retail Sales Associate

Status: Full-Time (Hourly + Sales Commissions) Reports To: Retail Manager Wage: $18.25

Position Overview

The Retail Sales Associate is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced retail environment. This role requires product knowledge, strong sales skills, and a customer-focused attitude to enhance the shopping experience. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, engaging with customers, assisting with wine tastings, and ensuring smooth retail operations.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Customer Service & Sales

  • Provide friendly and professional customer service to all store visitors.
  • Greet customers with eye contact, a smile, and a warm welcome.
  • Conduct wine tastings and provide expert recommendations based on customer preferences.
  • Guide customers to requested items and assist with product selection.
  • Suggest value-added and complementary products to enhance customer purchases.
  • Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and special requests efficiently and professionally.
  • Manage challenging customer situations with patience and professionalism.
  • Stay up to date on in-store promotions, discounts, and new products.

Retail & Inventory Operations

  • Maintain inventory accuracy and restock shelves efficiently.
  • Ensure product displays are organized, labeled, and visually appealing.
  • Conduct hole checks and bin cap analysis to identify low stock levels.
  • Report damaged, stolen, or missing products to management.
  • Assist with e-commerce operations, ensuring online orders are processed and shipped on time.
  • Operate computers, scanners, and retail sales systems accurately.

Teamwork & Compliance

  • Participate in department meetings and training sessions to improve performance.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Maintain a positive and proactive attitude, supporting team members as needed.
  • Comply with company policies, staff code of conduct, and contract provisions.
  • Set an example for junior team members in professionalism and customer engagement.
  • Other duties might be assigned by the supervisor.

Skills & Certifications

  • Basic computer skills for POS systems and inventory management.
  • Strong sales and customer service abilities.
  • Smart Serve Certification (required).
  • Recognized Food Handling Certificate (preferred).
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb ladders as needed.
  • Must be able to lift 18 kg (40 lbs) repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Ability to climb stairs multiple times per shift.
