About the role

Toromont Material Handling is looking for a Machine Sales Representative to join our team in Concord, Ontario!

Our Machine Sales Representative (MSR) will be responsible for the sale and rental of material handling equipment and warehouse solutions by developing strategic sales plans, prospecting new business opportunities, identifying customer needs, and building strong, long-term customer relationships.

Candidates must reside in, or be willing to travel extensively throughout, the Concord territory, including Vaughan, York Region, Peel Region, and surrounding areas within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Full Time, Permanent

 

Compensation

80,000 - 100,000

The listed target compensation includes commissions and other variable pay components and reflects expected annual earnings. It represents just one part of our total rewards package, and additional performance‑based bonuses or other elements may also apply.

In a typical day, YOU will:

  • Demonstrate safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviours at all times, in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policies, Programs and initiatives

  • Represent Toromont Material Handling to support heavy equipment sales and customer agreements.

  • Achieves sales objectives for new and used machines on designated territory.

  • Implement strategies aimed at increasing market shares and margins on assigned territory.

  • Promotes equipment programs and the company's image of excellence to customers and ensures a good synergy with other divisions.

  • Performs all administrative tasks pertaining to the position.

  • Liaison between customer and the company for all aspects of sales including analysis of specifications to identifying appropriate equipment applications/attachments to meet their needs.

  • Provide customers with quotes, new products, current offerings, purchasing options, and multiple offerings encompassing Toromont Material Handling’s value propositions.

  • Update customer profiles weekly and monthly within the territory plans for effective customer management.

  • Participate in weekly planning calls and enter weekly plans into SalesLink System including occasional travel to regional sales meetings.

  • Remain current in the competitive marketplace to ensure our customers receive the best value possible.

  • Demonstrate the highest level of competency and preparedness for the diverse range of product offerings through scheduled and self-guided learning.

 

Must-haves for this role:

  • Diploma of Collegial Studies or Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of experience, preferably in material handling or industrial products preferred
  • Safety conscious and customer centric, effective team player with proven relationship management
  • Knowledge of MS Office software and SAP Leadership
  • Proven success in a sales capacity including identifying and engaging new customers/business opportunities
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to maintain and grow existing and new business
  • Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills with a mindset for continuous improvement
  • Proven aptitude for developing creative presentations and promotions for Toromont Cat product offerings.
  • Solid business acumen with excellent negotiation, problem solving and influential decision-making skills.
  • Self-motivated, results driven and adaptable to changing priorities with excellent time management and organizational abilities.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating with a broader team.
  • Willing and able to travel as required and possess a valid Driver’s Licence and clean Driver's Abstract.
  • Bilingual in English and French (spoken and written).
