About the role
Taiga Building Products has a full-time, permanent opportunity at our Milton branch for a Junior Commodity Trader. This role carries direct responsibility for margin performance, inventory risk management, and supplier positioning within assigned commodity categories. The successful candidate will actively contribute to market strategy, pricing decisions, and national procurement alignment, playing a meaningful role in the company?s overall commodity performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Have a competitive approach, be a visionary in the market and area of expertise
- Establish, grow and maintain close and effective relationships with key customers and suppliers
- Market penetration through existing contacts, build and develop new contacts
- Combine the product and industry knowledge to identify opportunities for growth
- Ability to work with internal sales teams, purchasers, and other branches to enhance synergies
- Process and manage sales orders, including after-sales service (shipping information/tally revisions/claim processing)
- Contribute to pricing strategy, market positioning, and inventory exposure decisions within assigned categories
- Prepare internal pricing, paperwork, and reports
- Proven track record of targeting and growing accounts
- Attend periodic customer visits, meetings, and trade shows as required
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preferred ? 3-5 years lumber/panel trading and/or buying experience
- Proven record delivering superior customer service
- Strong relationship-building skills
- Able to meet and exceed performance targets
- Ability to manage inventory turnover and limit aged product
- Responsibility towards the full cycle of sales, including claim and inventory management
- Experience making profit-based decisions using data-analysis tools
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Pay: $45,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
