About the job Reporting to the Digital and Insurance Lead, the Personal Lines Insurance Advisor is accountable for delivering superior client service that promotes new business and client retention while maximizing cross sell opportunities.
Key Accountabilities:
Client Service & Relationship Management Respond to inbound calls, emails, and walk-ins from clients Provide policy advice on auto, home, and commercial risks Explain coverage, exclusions, and endorsements in plain language Resolve client issues and follow through to completion Maintain strong client relationships to improve retention Maintain and grow the President’s book of accounts (high valued-clients)
Policy Changes (Endorsements) & Account Maintenance Process policy changes (drivers, vehicles, addresses, business operations, etc.) Handle cancellations, reinstatements, and mid-term adjustments Update client records and insurer portals accurately Ensure documentation and files are compliant and complete
Renewals Management Review upcoming renewals (30–90 days out) Re-market policies to insurers if pricing or coverage is not competitive Advise clients on renewal changes (premium increases, coverage gaps) Negotiate with underwriters where needed
New Business Sales & Quoting Identify client needs and recommend appropriate coverage Quote policies using multiple insurer portals Present proposals and close sales Cross-sell (e.g., bundle home + auto, add commercial liability)
Marketing to Insurers Submit applications to multiple insurance carriers Negotiate terms, pricing, and coverage Compare quotes and prepare client proposals
Binding Coverage & Documentation Bind policies once client approves Issue certificates of insurance (COIs) Prepare summaries, invoices, and policy documents Ensure compliance with brokerage and regulatory requirements
Education & Requirements Level 2 Insurance License in BC Working towards completion of CIP considered an asset
Experience Experience with Personal Lines insurance (home, condo, tenant) Client sales and retention experience Relationship building experience Commercial insurance experience considered an asset Skills Familiar with BMS and Epic Communication (written and verbal) Organization Time management Attention to detail
