Marketing & Business Development Associate
About the role
About the Role We are an independent investment management practice located in the Toronto Area, managing $115M for individuals, families, and businesses, and part of a large multinational firm that manages over $175B in assets. We're building out a more consistent, professional approach to client communication and practice visibility. This is a newly created role, the first dedicated hire for marketing and client-facing communications at our practice. The Marketing & Business Development Associate will manage the logistics, cadence, and quality of our outward-facing communications, freeing the advisor to focus on content strategy, client relationships, and portfolio management. This role is central to a clear growth goal: expanding our client base meaningfully this year through more consistent, higher-quality outreach. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to take on management of a growing function, receive direct mentorship from a senior advisor, and shape a role as it scales from part-time to full-time.
What You'll Do Client & Prospect Communications ● Schedule, send, and manage regular email communications to clients and prospects (content drafted collaboratively with the advisor) ● Monitor responses, opens, and engagement; flag warm leads or client replies for timely advisor follow-up ● Maintain a communications calendar to ensure consistent, professional cadence ● Track prospect outreach and follow-up status to support new client acquisition goals Brand & Tone ● Ensure every touchpoint — email, web, and other channels — reflects a positive, professional, and consistent tone ● Help align messaging and voice across all platforms (email, website, social, print materials) Web & Digital Presence ● Build out and enhance website landing pages and service description pages, incorporating short essays, video, or other content drafted collaboratively with the advisor ● Keep web content current and aligned with practice messaging ● Coordinate with outside designers/developers as needed (if applicable) Reporting & Coordination ● Provide regular updates on communication metrics (email engagement, web traffic, prospect pipeline activity) to inform strategy ● Coordinate with back-office support as needed on client-facing logistics
What We're Looking For ● Strong written communication skills and close attention to detail; you'll be handling logistics for communications representing the practice ● Comfort learning and managing email marketing tools, CRM software, and basic website content management (specific platforms to be determined; training provided) ● Organized, self-directed, and comfortable owning a calendar of recurring tasks with minimal supervision ● A professional, warm communication style; you'll often be the first point of contact for prospects ● Prior experience in marketing, communications, or client services is a plus; financial services experience is a plus but not required ● Interest in growing with the role as responsibilities and hours expand
Growth Path ● This role is designed to grow. As our client base and communication needs expand, we anticipate this position moving toward full-time status, with increasing stewardship and responsibility of marketing strategy, prospect nurturing, and potentially direct client relationship support.
