Position Overview As a Roofing Estimator / Sales Representative, you will meet with homeowners, inspect roofing systems, identify issues, explain your findings, and provide accurate estimates using company-approved pricing. You will represent Professional Roofers as the first professional point of contact for many customers, so communication, honesty, appearance, and professionalism are extremely important. This is a commission-only position with no base salary. The right candidate should be confident, self-motivated, comfortable speaking with homeowners, and willing to work hard to earn based on performance. Responsibilities Meet homeowners for scheduled roofing estimates and inspections Perform full exterior roof inspections, including climbing and walking roofs when safe Inspect key roofing components including shingles, flat roofs, metal roofs, valleys, flashing, vents, insulation, decking, eavestroughs, soffit, fascia, downpipes, skylights, siding, and related exterior components Identify the root cause of roofing issues, not just visible symptoms Take accurate measurements, photos, notes, and job details Explain findings to homeowners in a clear, simple, and professional manner Provide accurate estimates using company-approved pricing Recommend roofing solutions, upgrades, repairs, and related services where appropriate Maintain complete and accurate CRM records, including photos, notes, measurements, and recommendations Follow all company safety procedures, ladder safety rules, and Working at Heights requirements Represent the company professionally in appearance, communication, and conduct Build trust with homeowners through education, honesty, and clear communication Follow up with leads and customers as required Prospect for additional opportunities through referrals, neighbourhood targeting, and other approved methods The training manual emphasizes that the estimator’s role combines roof inspection, customer education, professional communication, CRM accuracy, and safety compliance. Requirements Minimum 5 years of experience in construction, roofing, carpentry, exterior renovations, or a related trade Comfortable climbing ladders and walking roofs Strong understanding of residential construction or willingness to learn roofing systems in detail Excellent communication and customer service skills Strong sales ability or willingness to develop sales skills Professional appearance and respectful attitude Self-motivated and comfortable working in a commission-only role Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle Ability to use mobile apps, CRM software, photos, and basic measuring tools Strong attention to detail Ability to work independently and manage appointments Must be safety-conscious and willing to follow all safety procedures Preferred Qualifications Roofing experience Previous estimating or sales experience Working at Heights certification Experience with shingles, flat roofs, metal roofs, insulation, eavestroughs, siding, or exterior repairs Experience using JobNimbus, EagleView, Hover, pitch gauge apps, drones, or similar tools Strong knowledge of GTA residential homes and roofing systems Compensation This is a commission-only position. There is no base salary. Income is based on performance, closed sales, and completed work. This role is best suited for candidates who are confident in their ability to sell, build trust, follow up, and earn based on results. Training Provided Professional Roofers provides training on our roofing systems, estimating process, pricing, sales approach, inspection process, safety expectations, and company standards. Estimators are expected to develop strong technical roofing knowledge, customer education skills, and the ability to provide accurate, ethical, and transparent estimates. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who has worked in construction, roofing, carpentry, or a related trade and wants to move into a higher-income customer-facing role. You should be comfortable speaking with homeowners, inspecting roofs, explaining problems clearly, and closing sales without using pressure tactics. We are looking for someone who is professional, hardworking, honest, organized, and motivated by commission-based earnings.
