Senior Fire Apparatus Sales Consultant
About the role
Dependable Emergency Vehicles | Brampton, Ontario Full-Time | On-Site / Field-Based Reports to: DEV Management
Dependable Emergency Vehicles is a Canadian manufacturer of custom fire and emergency apparatus serving fire departments, municipalities, and emergency-service organizations across Canada. We are seeking an experienced, high-performing Senior Fire Apparatus Sales Consultant to lead the sales process for custom fire apparatus, ready-now apparatus, stock units, remount opportunities, and fleet replacement solutions.
This is not an entry-level sales position. We are specifically seeking a candidate who already has a strong track record selling complex, high-value vehicles, apparatus, commercial trucks, fleet equipment, or technical capital equipment.
The successful candidate must be comfortable managing long sales cycles, building relationships with senior municipal and fire-service decision-makers, understanding customer operations, and moving opportunities from first conversation through delivery.
The Role The Senior Fire Apparatus Sales Consultant will own and manage a professional sales pipeline while actively developing new opportunities across municipal, fire service, fleet, and dealer markets.
You will work directly with fire chiefs, municipal staff, procurement teams, councils, fleet managers, dealers, and internal DEV departments to identify customer needs and present the right apparatus solution. This position requires someone who is proactive, organized, commercially capable, and confident in front of senior customers. The successful candidate must be able to generate business, manage a complex deal cycle, and consistently follow through.
Core Responsibilities Lead the complete sales process for custom fire apparatus, ready-now apparatus, stock units, remounts, and related truck opportunities. Develop and maintain relationships with fire chiefs, municipal decision-makers, procurement teams, fleet managers, dealers, and industry partners. Identify departments with aging apparatus, replacement needs, capital budget timing, recent tenders, fleet-risk concerns, operational gaps, or urgent purchasing requirements. Prospect for new business through direct outreach, customer visits, referrals, industry events, dealer relationships, and targeted account development. Conduct customer meetings, facility tours, demonstrations, presentations, and specification discussions. Prepare accurate quotes, proposals, customer presentations, and sales documentation. Guide opportunities through discovery, quoting, specification development, tender response, negotiation, purchase order, production handoff, and delivery. Work closely with internal engineering, production, service, finance, and management teams to ensure customer expectations are accurately understood and delivered. Support the sale of ready-now and stock apparatus by matching available units to departments with a genuine operational or replacement trigger. Review and respond to municipal tenders, RFQs, RFPs, and public-sector procurement opportunities. Maintain accurate CRM records, opportunity stages, customer notes, activity records, forecasts, and next steps. Provide regular pipeline, forecast, market intelligence, and account updates to DEV Management. Represent Dependable Emergency Vehicles at trade shows, fire department events, municipal conferences, dealer meetings, and customer functions.
Required Experience and Qualifications Applicants must have: A minimum of seven years of proven B2B sales experience involving complex, high-value products or capital equipment. A minimum of three years of directly relevant experience in one or more of the following areas: fire apparatus, emergency vehicles, commercial trucks, fleet equipment, vocational vehicles, heavy equipment, municipal equipment, or technical capital sales. Demonstrated success managing long sales cycles and high-value purchase decisions. Experience working with municipal, government, public-sector, fire-service, fleet, dealer, or institutional customers. A proven ability to prospect, build a qualified pipeline, manage customer relationships, and close business. Strong presentation, proposal-writing, negotiation, organization, and follow-up skills. Experience using CRM systems, quote-management tools, and sales forecasting processes. A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel for customer meetings, demonstrations, trade shows, deliveries, and industry events.
Preferred Qualifications The following will be considered strong assets: Existing relationships within Canadian fire departments, municipalities, public-sector procurement, fleet operations, commercial truck sales, or emergency vehicle markets. Experience with capital planning, municipal budgets, tender processes, public procurement, fleet replacement planning, or apparatus specifications. Experience selling custom-built, engineered, technical, or configurable products. Knowledge of fire department operations, apparatus specifications, operational requirements, and fleet lifecycle planning.
Who Will Be Successful in This Role The right person for this role is already comfortable selling complex products to professional buyers. You are disciplined with follow-up, confident in customer meetings, commercially aware, and capable of managing multiple opportunities without losing momentum. You understand that success comes from building trust, identifying real customer needs, and maintaining ownership of each opportunity through to delivery.
