Job Opportunity: Research Analyst (Permanent)
The Research Analyst supports the Strategy & Research Team by conducting market intelligence research and analysis to inform international business development and strategic decision-making. Working closely with the Manager, Trade Market Intelligence (TMI), this role assesses requests, plans and executes research projects, and delivers high-quality intelligence reports. The position also provides training, coaching, and guidance to Research Assistants (co-op students), helping them maximize the use of research tools and resources. The Research Analyst supports team initiatives and works with internal and external partners to provide research and insights that help move organizational priorities forward.
What You’ll Do As a Research Analyst, you will support the delivery of Invest Nova Scotia’s Trade Market Intelligence (TMI) service by conducting international trade research, analyzing market data, and developing customized reports that help Nova Scotia companies explore and expand into export markets. You will contribute to research planning, service performance tracking, and the development of special research publications. You will also lead the onboarding, training, and ongoing mentorship of Research Assistants, to help ensure high-quality and consistent research work. In addition, you will prepare company profiles and professional biographies, support export development and investment attraction initiatives, and contribute to a variety of strategic research projects that guide our organizational decisions.
What We’re Looking For
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree combined with a minimum of one year of experience collecting and analyzing data and writing reports. A specialization in international business is considered an asset.

Strong ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data and statistics, using research and analytical skills to develop insights and recommendations that support business decisions. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively, build relationships, and communicate information clearly. Exceptional organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Sound judgment and the ability to make decisions that support organizational goals Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Experience using data visualization tools and design platforms is considered an asset.
