Job details

Alberta Territory Manager – Medical DevicesDrainage Systems & Laparoscopic Surgical Products Company: MedQuest Medical Inc. Recruitment Partner: Hello Hired Inc. Territory: Alberta – Field-Based Employment: Full-Time, Permanent Base Salary: $80,000 + Uncapped Commission Start: Training anticipated in January | Territory launch in February An Opportunity to Win Back a Market MedQuest Medical Inc. is looking for an experienced medical-device sales professional to take ownership of a focused business-development opportunity across Alberta. This isn't an account-maintenance role. We're looking for someone who knows how to open doors inside hospitals, build relationships with physicians and clinical teams, generate product trials and win new business — even when a competing manufacturer currently holds the contract. The primary focus will be two specialty categories: Pleural and abdominal drainage systems, including catheter kits and negative-pressure drainage products Laparoscopic surgical products and instrumentation Experience in both would be exceptional, but isn't expected. Strong experience in either drainage or laparoscopic/surgical sales is highly valuable, with particular interest in candidates who understand the drainage market. Why This Opportunity Is Different MedQuest is re-entering product categories where the company previously had an established presence. There is existing market awareness, historical account information and an opportunity to reconnect with previous users while developing new business. You'll identify hospitals and clinicians experiencing backorders, supply challenges, pricing concerns or dissatisfaction with current products, introduce an alternative and build clinical adoption ahead of future contracting opportunities. We need someone who understands that hospital sales aren't always about waiting for the next RFP. You know how to uncover opportunities, build physician support, generate trials and strategically position products for future growth. In short, we're looking for a hunter, not an order taker. What You'll Be Doing Develop new business throughout Alberta, with a primary focus on Calgary and Edmonton Promote pleural/abdominal drainage systems and laparoscopic surgical products Build relationships with physicians, surgeons, respiratory specialists, oncology teams, nursing teams and clinical decision-makers Identify opportunities within hospitals, cancer centres and clinical programs Generate product evaluations, trials and new clinical users Navigate opportunities where competing products are currently under contract Understand contract/RFP timelines and build product awareness and usage ahead of future opportunities Conduct product presentations, demonstrations and clinical education Prospect consistently and maintain a strong calendar of customer appointments Manage activity and pipeline through Freshsales CRM Travel throughout Alberta approximately 4–5 days per week Potentially support Saskatchewan opportunities as the territory develops Who We're Looking For This role requires someone who already understands outside medical-device sales and hospital environments and can hit the ground running. Ideally, you bring: Proven outside sales/business-development experience in medical devices Strong knowledge of the Alberta hospital and healthcare market Experience with drainage systems, pleural products, laparoscopic instrumentation, surgical devices or related products Existing relationships with physicians, surgeons or hospital decision-makers A proven ability to prospect, open new accounts and develop new business Experience navigating hospital procurement, contracts and RFPs Understanding of Canadian healthcare contracting, ideally within Alberta Confidence conducting product demonstrations and working directly with clinicians Strong organization, follow-up and CRM discipline A valid driver's licence, reliable vehicle and willingness to travel extensively throughout Alberta Experience We'd Be Particularly Excited to See If you've sold relevant products with organizations such as BD (Becton Dickinson), Medtronic, Johnson & Johnson, CONMED, Applied Medical, Covidien or another competing medical-device manufacturer, we'd be very interested in speaking with you. Experience with PleurX or similar pleural/abdominal drainage systems would be especially relevant. You don't need experience in both product categories. Strong experience and relationships in either drainage or laparoscopic/surgical products could make you an excellent fit. What Success Looks Like You're comfortable navigating a hospital, identifying who influences a product decision and building relationships with the right people. When another manufacturer's product is already under contract, you know how to uncover legitimate opportunities — whether that's supply issues, backorders, pricing, clinician preferences, product concerns or an upcoming contract renewal. You don't need someone to hand you a step-by-step sales plan. You understand the market, fill your calendar, get in front of customers and create opportunities. What MedQuest Offers $80,000 base salary + uncapped commission Car allowance Gas and eligible business travel expenses Cell phone and laptop Comprehensive health benefits Historical account information and lead lists Direct access to company leadership Significant autonomy and territory ownership Opportunity to help rebuild two important product categories within Alberta About MedQuest Medical Founded in 2007, MedQuest Medical Inc. is a privately owned Canadian specialty medical-device distributor serving acute, non-acute and community healthcare markets.
