Job summary
Building Materials Edmonton, AB On behalf of our client, a leader in water and wastewater products, we are seeking an experienced Account Manager to join their team. This role will focus on servicing existing customers and seeking new customers to contribute to revenue growth and strengthen market presence. The Account Manager is accountable for achieving sales targets, maintaining margins, and ensuring assigned territory fulfillment aligns with business objectives. They will build deep product knowledge, negotiate contracts, and collaborate with internal teams to enhance financial performance and maximize profitability within the assigned territory. Key Responsibilities Lead direct sales efforts and territory expansion; introduce new products/services and organize visits to current and prospective clients to meet sales targets. Build and maintain strong customer relationships, delivering high-quality service and tailored solutions based on product and client needs. Develop and submit short- and long-range sales plans and strategies; monitor project status and risk exposure. Maintain relationships with vendors and industry consultants to support distribution and product opportunities. Identify and pursue new clients and product lines to grow market share and brand recognition. Prepare estimates, bid packages, and quotes from RFPs/RFQs and drawings; manage pricing and discount approvals per guidelines. Manage and present regular project status, sales reports, and risk analyses to management. Act as a resource to branch staff on customer service best practices and product knowledge. Collaborate with customer service and supply chain to resolve client issues and ensure service excellence. Maintain detailed CRM activity logs, track sales activities, and report on sales effectiveness. Support engagement with the design community and participate in industry events to expand market presence. Manage expenses responsibly and assist in collections for slow-paying accounts. Perform other duties as required to meet organizational needs. Qualifications Minimum 3 years' sales experience in construction/building materials industry-related outside sales, inside sales, or project management; 5+ years preferred for comparable roles. Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and expanding territory revenue. Knowledge of construction/waterworks (or related) products and market conditions; ability to recognize opportunities. Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Solid administrative and computer skills; proficient with CRM systems and Microsoft Office. Self-starter, reliable team player, able to work independently with limited supervision. Valid driver's license and ability to travel by car. Education High school diploma required; post-secondary education in Business or related field preferred but not mandatory.
