Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and driven Event Sales Manager to lead banquet and event sales operations for a hotel and restaurant property in St. John's, Newfoundland. This role is ideal for a hospitality professional with a passion for event planning, business development, customer service, and team leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving event sales, managing client relationships, leading banquet operations, and ensuring flawless event execution. As the Event Sales Manager, you will act as a brand ambassador within the community, develop strategic relationships, and create memorable experiences for guests while achieving sales and financial targets. Event Sales Manager Location: St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador Salary: $60,000 - $65,000 per year Commission: 2% of sales (approximately $7,000 - $10,000 annually) Cell Phone Allowance: $80/month Key Responsibilities Sales & Business Development: Generate new business opportunities and drive event sales growth. Develop and maintain relationships with corporate clients, community organizations, and social event planners. Grow repeat business and secure future event bookings. Represent the property at networking events, trade shows, bridal shows, golf tournaments, and community events. Client Management: Consult with clients to plan and coordinate events. Prepare event proposals, quotations, and contracts. Maintain strong customer relationships and deliver exceptional service throughout the planning process. Manage event accounts and ensure client expectations are exceeded. Banquet Operations Leadership: Direct and oversee banquet operations while upholding company standards, policies, and procedures. Ensure seamless execution of all events and functions. Monitor and maintain quality assurance standards for service and guest experience. Attend weekly BEO (Banquet Event Order) meetings with the Executive Chef and operational team. Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, train, mentor, and motivate banquet team members. Identify high-potential employees and support their development into future leadership roles. Foster a positive and high-performance team culture. Financial Management: Manage banquet inventory, labour costs, and scheduling. Prepare and submit weekly financial reports related to sales performance, targets, and labour control. Establish and achieve revenue and profitability goals. Qualifications A minimum of 2 years of previous experience in event sales, banquet management, or hospitality sales. Experience as a Restaurant Manager leading the floor during the restaurant peaks as needed. Strong business development and relationship-building skills. Exceptional communication and organizational abilities. Proven leadership and team development experience. Ability to manage multiple projects and events simultaneously.
