Job Description: Department Overview TD Equipment Finance Canada (TDEF), within TD Commercial Banking, is a center of excellence focused on delivering equipment financing solutions to business clients across Canada. The Loan Resolution Group (LRG) is a specialized team supporting customers experiencing financial difficulty while protecting the Bank and maximizing recovery outcomes. Position This Senior Account Manager role is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced commercial credit or equipment finance professional who enjoys complex problem solving, negotiation, and relationship management. You will manage a portfolio of higher-risk or impaired TDEF accounts, develop practical restructuring and recovery strategies, and work closely with internal partners and external professionals including legal counsel, accountants/monitors, receivers and trustees. The successful candidate will bring sound judgment, financial and collateral analysis, strong communication skills, and a client-respectful approach to difficult conversations. This role reports to the Senior Credit Manager, Loan Resolution Group & Equipment Management Group. • Preserve viable client relationships where possible while supporting Commercial Banking and TDEF portfolio objectives. • Improve economic outcomes by applying risk-based pricing, disciplined restructuring, and recovery strategies that maximize funds recovered. • Identify deterioration early, acting with urgency & assertiveness to reduce loss exposure and protect TD’s position. • Develop commercially reasonable, creative solutions including restructures, forbearance strategies, settlements, enforcement recommendations and recovery plans. • Manage third-party professional costs prudently and ensure external resources are used effectively. • Maintain accurate, timely portfolio information and workflow discipline using BBHub, EKIP, JIRA, Excel and other applicable systems. Credit & Operational Risk Expertise • Assess and recommend/adjudicate credit applications with clear risk analysis, appropriate structure, due diligence and concise credit presentation. • Apply TD credit policies, lending guidelines, operating procedures and risk appetite to higher-risk equipment finance situations. • Monitor assigned accounts comprehensively, including covenant performance, arrears, collateral position, legal/enforcement status and emerging industry risks. • Use independent judgment and financial analysis to determine whether turnaround, restructure, realization or exit is the appropriate path. • Operate in a compliant manner and complete all regulatory, operational risk, conduct and compliance requirements within required timelines. • Partner with Financial Restructuring Group (FRG), TDEF Credit, Commercial Banking, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely decisions. • Share lessons learned and best practices to strengthen TDEF risk management, early-warning discipline and portfolio controls. Customer Relationships • Approach clients with professionalism, empathy and respect, while maintaining clear expectations and protecting the Bank’s interests. • Lead difficult conversations and negotiate practical repayment, restructuring or settlement solutions in a fair and commercially sound manner. • Deliver a consistent customer experience by communicating clearly, following through on commitments and resolving issues with urgency. • Develop a strong understanding of the client’s business, industry, equipment collateral and broader economic factors affecting repayment capacity. • Represent TDEF and TD professionally with customers, advisors, legal counsel, receivers, trustees and community/professional contacts. • Act as a trusted equipment finance subject matter expert and help position TDEF as a leading, relationship-focused equipment finance provider. Team Dynamic • Contribute to a positive, inclusive and high-performing team culture where diverse perspectives are valued. • Build strong working relationships with TDEF partners, Commercial Banking, Credit, FRG, Operations and external professional firms. • Provide coaching, mentoring and guidance to colleagues on complex files, negotiation approach, credit analysis, documentation standards and recovery strategy. • Act as a resource and escalation point in areas of personal expertise, supporting consistent decisions and strong execution across the Unit. • Invest in ongoing learning to strengthen expertise in equipment finance, insolvency/restructuring practices, collateral values, industry trends and TD systems. Role Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered. • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Commercial Credit, Commercial Banking, Equipment Finance, Special Loans, Late Stage Collections, Restructuring or Workout. • Experience with impaired loans, financial restructuring, insolvency proceedings, enforcement, recovery strategy or asset realization is a strong asset. • Strong financial statement analysis, credit writing, negotiation, problem-solving and relationship management skills. • Sound knowledge of equipment finance products, collateral valuation, documentation and risk mitigation practices is preferred. • Bilingual French and English capability is required for supporting clients and partners across Canada. • Comfortable working with multiple systems and maintaining disciplined, audit-ready file documentation.
