As a Sales Representative – Building Automation Systems, your primary focus will be developing new accounts, creating business opportunities and directly contributing to the growth of our sales pipeline. You will spend significant time in the market meeting with general and mechanical contractors, consulting engineering firms, property managers, building owners and other industry partners. Your knowledge of the market and ability to build relationships will help you identify upcoming projects and position Laurentide as a trusted partner from the earliest stages. YOUR CONTRIBUTION BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT * Actively develop new accounts and business opportunities within the building automation market. * Regularly meet with general contractors, mechanical contractors, consulting engineering firms, property managers and building owners. * Identify upcoming construction, renovation and modernization projects. * Develop and maintain a strong network of industry decision-makers, influencers and partners. * Conduct in-person, telephone and digital prospecting to open new accounts. * Position PHS Canada as a trusted partner from the earliest stages of a project. SALES PIPELINE DEVELOPMENT * Measurably increase the number and value of opportunities within the sales pipeline. * Identify and qualify opportunities based on their potential, timing and likelihood of conversion. * Maintain disciplined follow-up on each opportunity through its conversion into a project. * Keep customer, project and opportunity information current in the CRM. * Develop visibility into upcoming projects to help estimating and operations teams better anticipate demand. * Achieve established targets for new opportunities, sales and account development. CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS * Develop long-term relationships with existing and prospective customers. * Understand customers’ technical, operational and commercial needs. * Present PHS Canada’s solutions and services clearly and according to customer needs. * Maintain regular follow-up with customers and industry partners. * Identify additional sales opportunities within existing accounts. * Maintain a strong presence in the market and become a trusted resource for customers in building automation. INTERNAL COLLABORATION * Work closely with estimating, engineering, project management and service teams. * Quickly communicate relevant information about projects identified in the market to internal teams. * Participate in developing bid strategies and account development plans for key opportunities. * Ensure an effective transition from opportunity development through quotation and project award. * Communicate market trends, competitive activity and emerging customer needs. ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS * Relevant experience in outside sales, business development or account management within a technical environment. * Strong knowledge of building automation, building controls, HVAC or building electromechanical systems. * Valid driver’s licence and availability to travel regularly to customer locations. TECHNICAL SKILLS * Good understanding of building automation and controls, construction projects and the bidding process. * Experience building and managing a sales pipeline, with a disciplined approach to opportunity follow-up and CRM usage. * Ability to effectively move opportunities through the sales cycle, from qualification through close. * Understanding of gross margin management and the profitability of sold projects within established company margin thresholds. * An existing network among general contractors, mechanical contractors, consulting engineering firms or building owners is a strong asset. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS * Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills. * Highly autonomous and proactive. * Ability to effectively organize customer visits, business development activities and priorities. * Strong business acumen and ability to build relationships with industry decision-makers, influencers and partners.
