Job details

Position: Territory Sales Manager, Outside Sales Company: MGM Electric Motors North America (MGM NA Canada) Base location: Vaudreuil, Quebec, Canada Territory: Canada and the United States (specific provinces and states to be finalized) Reports to: Regional Sales Director, MGM North America Travel: About 50% of working time, split roughly evenly between regional driving and air travel Employment type: Full time, individual contributor role with no direct reports About MGM MGM Electric Motors is the North American arm of M.G.M. Motori Elettrici S.p.A., a family owned Italian manufacturer of brake motors and electromechanical drive solutions founded in 1947. With operations in Troy, Michigan and Vaudreuil, Quebec, MGM North America supports OEMs and end users across lifting, hoisting, crane and hoist, marine, theatrical rigging, and industrial motion control applications. As the business keeps growing across Canada and the United States, we are building out our outside sales team with people who like to hunt for new business as much as they like taking care of the accounts they already have. The Opportunity We are looking for a Territory Sales Manager who thinks like a hunter. This is not an account maintenance role sitting behind a desk. You will spend most of your time in the field, opening new accounts, building relationships with engineers and buyers, and growing the business we already have across a territory that spans Canada and the United States. You will sell in a consultative way: understand the application first, then propose the right electromechanical solution, rather than pushing a catalog part number on price alone. What You Will Do • Prospect and open new accounts across the assigned Canada and US territory, using outbound calls, email, LinkedIn, referrals, and trade events. • Build and execute a territory business plan that grows both new logo revenue and existing account revenue. • Understand customer applications across lifting, hoisting, crane and hoist, marine, theatrical rigging, and general industrial motion control, and recommend the right brake motor or electromechanical solution. • Sell consultatively: uncover the technical requirement, propose a solution, and defend it on value rather than competing on price alone. • Run in person and virtual meetings with engineers, buyers, and plant or operations leaders. • Manage the full sales cycle from first contact through quoting, negotiation, and order. • Keep the CRM and quoting tools current with accurate pipeline, forecast, and activity data. • Work closely with the technical, logistics, and accounting teams in Troy, Michigan and Vaudreuil, Quebec to support customers and resolve issues. • Represent MGM at trade shows, conventions, and industry events across the territory. • Stay current on trends in electric motors, gearboxes, brake motors, and industrial automation that are relevant to the territory. Travel Expectations This role travels about 50% of the time. Roughly half of that travel is regional, visiting customers within a few hours of the Vaudreuil base by car. The other half is air travel to reach customers and prospects across the broader Canada and US territory. Because the territory spans both countries, this role requires regular cross border travel. What We Are Looking For Required: • A track record of success in outside B2B sales, with real evidence of new business development rather than only account management. • Comfortable selling consultatively, solution first, rather than competing purely on price or catalog specification. • Willingness and ability to travel about 50% of the time, split between regional driving and air travel, including regular travel across the Canada and US border. • A valid passport and the ability to travel to and work in the United States on a consistent, ongoing basis. • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record. • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. • Comfortable working independently and remotely while staying closely connected to a small, hands on team. • Proficient with a CRM, quoting tools, and Microsoft Office applications. Preferred, not required: • Technical exposure to electromechanical systems, electric motors, gearboxes, or industrial automation, whether from an engineering, technical sales, or applications background. • Experience selling to OEMs, industrial distributors, or end users in material handling, crane and hoist, marine, or motion control segments. • A degree in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent hands on experience. • French language skills, given the Quebec base. Compensation and Benefits • Competitive base salary plus commission or bonus tied to new business development and territory growth. • Car allowance or company vehicle plus travel expense reimbursement. • The chance to build and shape a growing, cross border territory for an established, family owned manufacturer. MGM Electric Motors North America is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates.
