Solve Technical Problems. Help Grow a North American Business. Hydrasurvey is a growing Canadian company specializing in sludge and sediment assessments for municipal, industrial, and engineering clients across North America. We’re looking for a technically minded salesperson who enjoys meeting people, learning how things work, solving client problems and building long-term relationships. This is not a traditional desk-based sales role. You’ll visit wastewater lagoons, water treatment facilities and industrial sites, attend conferences and trade shows, meet with operators and engineers, develop proposals and help clients understand how our services can support their projects. If you have a technical background, enjoy working independently and like the challenge of developing new business, we’d like to meet you. The Role As a Technical Sales Representative, you’ll help grow Hydrasurvey’s client base across Canada and the United States. You’ll manage opportunities from the first conversation through proposal and project award while working closely with our technical and operations teams. You won’t be expected to know our specialized services on day one. We’ll provide training so you can confidently discuss our survey methods, reports and technical capabilities with clients. Over time, you’ll become a trusted resource for municipalities, engineering consultants and industrial clients dealing with sludge and sediment management challenges. What You’ll DoSales & Business Development Develop relationships with new and existing municipal, industrial and engineering clients. Contact prospective clients through phone, email, industry events and in-person meetings. Identify upcoming projects and help clients determine whether Hydrasurvey's services are a good fit. Conduct discovery calls, site visits and technical discussions. Prepare quotations and proposals with support from our technical team. Manage opportunities from initial contact through contract award. Maintain an organized CRM and provide accurate pipeline forecasts. Follow up consistently with clients and prospects. Client Relationships Build long-term relationships rather than focusing solely on individual transactions. Meet with clients before and after projects to understand their needs and review results. Identify recurring survey requirements, future projects and additional opportunities. Work with our operations and technical teams to ensure a strong client experience. Industry & Market Development Attend conferences, trade shows and industry events throughout Canada and the U.S. Deliver presentations, webinars and technical discussions. Help develop case studies, technical articles and educational marketing content. Learn the municipal water/wastewater, dredging and sediment-management industries. Contribute ideas to Hydrasurvey’s Canadian and U.S. growth strategy. What We’re Looking For We’re less interested in finding someone who checks every box than we are in finding the right combination of technical curiosity, communication skills, initiative and personality. Ideally, You Have: Approximately 3–7+ years of relevant professional experience. Previous experience in technical sales, business development, consulting, engineering, environmental services or a related technical industry. Experience working with municipalities, engineering consultants, industrial clients or water/wastewater organizations. An engineering, engineering technology, environmental science or related technical background. A professional designation such as P.Eng., EIT or CET is an asset, but equivalent technical and industry experience will also be considered. Strong English verbal and written communication skills. Confidence presenting technical information to groups and individual clients. A valid driver's licence with three years insured driving experience and a valid Canadian or American passport. The ability and willingness to travel frequently throughout Canada and the United States. Experience with water or wastewater treatment, lagoons, dredging, sludge management, sediment management, environmental consulting or municipal infrastructure would be particularly valuable. You'll Probably Fit In Well Here If You... Are technically curious and genuinely enjoy learning. Like talking to operators, engineers, consultants and business owners. Are competitive and motivated without being overly aggressive. Are comfortable picking up the phone and starting conversations with people you don't know. Follow through and keep commitments. Can work independently without needing constant supervision. Enjoy variety and don't want every workday to look the same. Are comfortable travelling and spending time in the field. Stay professional when things get busy. Are confident without having a big ego. Enjoy working with a small team where your ideas and results have a visible impact. Don't mind occasionally getting your boots dirty. What Working at Hydrasurvey Is Like We're a small and growing team, which means people have a lot of independence and responsibility. We take our work seriously, but we don't believe work needs to feel overly corporate. You'll work directly with company leadership, our technical team and our field staff. Good ideas can be implemented quickly, and strong performers have an opportunity to take on considerably more responsibility as the company grows. We're looking for someone who wants to help build something rather than simply inherit a fixed sales territory and follow an established script. The position includes significant travel, occasional early mornings and busy periods during the field season. In return, you'll have considerable autonomy, variety and the opportunity to build relationships with clients throughout North America. Compensation Base Salary: $75,000–$90,000, depending on experience Performance Incentive: Additional compensation based on profitable sales growth and individual performance. Target Total Compensation: $120,000+ for successful performance, with additional upside for high performers. Full details of the incentive structure will be discussed during the hiring process. All approved business travel expenses are covered by the company. You'll also receive access to the CRM, sales tools, technical resources and support needed to develop opportunities effectively. Growth Opportunity Hydrasurvey is actively expanding across Canada and the United States. For the right person, this position has the potential to develop into a senior commercial or sales leadership role as the company grows. Future opportunities could include responsibility for: Key accounts Regional sales strategy New market development Sales team leadership Director or VP-level commercial responsibilities We're looking for someone who wants the opportunity to grow alongside the company. Interested? If you're technically minded, good with people and interested in building a career that combines sales, travel, engineering and the water/wastewater industry, we'd like to hear from you. Please email [email protected] with your resume and a short introduction telling us why this type of role interests you.
