Role Summary:

The Director of Sales will lead and plan the strategic direction of the business. The Director of Sales, will provide innovative leadership for the sales team, utilizing effective strategic business planning and analytical thinking to significantly accelerate the company’s long-term revenue, growth and profitability. The role will manage and develop the sales team, leverage the existing client base, and build new partnerships with key industry and marketplace stakeholders. The Director of Sales will lead the process for accurate business planning, forecasting, seasonal initiatives, business analysis and opportunity identification.

Position Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Analysis

  • Partner with leadership to create and implement the strategic vision and sales plan, including developing sales objectives aligned with business objectives
  • Monitor, manage, report, and communicate to leadership and sales team on sales metrics on a weekly/monthly basis, adjusting the business and sales objectives as required
  • Understand the competitive landscape and market trends

Team Leadership

  • Build and develop the sales team, including recruitment, hiring, orientation, training and professional development, and manage employee relations and performance
  • Complete sales analyses, assessing account performance against monthly sales targets, make recommendations, and communicate with client’s account teams
  • Lead the training on new selling strategies, assessing accounts, and areas of development
  • Coach and mentor sales team to be effective brand representatives

Business Development

  • Manage all aspects of client selling consultation, building strategic proposals, relationship management, closing, and transition
  • Key contributor to proposals and RFP’s in contract negotiations while exploring team partnerships to enhance brand exposure
  • Produce strategies for sales opportunities including innovative solutions to meet client requests
  • Analyze pipeline and lead data, deliver periodic reporting to the sales and marketing teams providing key business insights: typical reporting relates to Demand Generation, Pipeline Forecast and Trends, Conversion Rates, Target Account, Market Segmentation, Win/Loss
  • Forecast sales activity and revenue, lead multiple sales cycles, and close effectively to create referenceable, satisfied clients

Stakeholder Relations

  • Implement and lead regular account management reviews, including quarterly business reviews, assessing client satisfaction, service level reporting, deliverable execution and service growth and improvement
  • Nurture client relationships and establish meaningful partnerships
  • Create materials and presentations and effectively represent the company at conferences, networking events, and trade shows with a view to building networks

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, or related field.
  • 7+ years of related industry experience (Promotions, Display, Marketing, Retail) in a leadership role.
  • 5+ years management experience with strong coaching, developing, and mentoring abilities.
  • 5+ years field sales experience with extensive knowledge of the marketing industry.
  • Experience creating and executing sales strategies and developing forecasts and scenario plans with proven track record of meeting sales goals and closing deals.
  • Strong business development/sales acumen, with experience utilizing strategic planning, retail analytics, financial/budget management and business planning to meet revenue goals.
  • Expertise with sales programs, policies, and procedures and experience with a wide range of sales channels and thorough knowledge of retailer business operations.
  • Ability to collaborate, unite, and motivate teams to reach business goals.
  • Flexible and creative thinker with strong organization, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Able to establish, maintain and influence working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Extraordinary interpersonal skills, with the ability to elicit information, actively listen, dialogue freely, verbalize ideas, negotiate tense situations, and manage and resolve conflict.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership capabilities and ability to influence and persuade key decision and can resolve complex business issues and making sound decisions.
  • Willing to travel regularly to client offices, meetings and conferences.
