Job summary
Role: Account Manager, Websites & Brand Location: Remote anywhere in Ontario Workplace Type: Fully Remote / Work From Home Type: Permanent, Full-Time (37.5 hours/week) Salary: $80,000–$95,000, based on experience Anticipated Start: October 2026 1dea is a website, marketing and brand agency with a team of about ten working remotely across Ontario. For more than 20 years, we have built brands, websites and marketing strategies for organizations in government, private business, healthcare, tourism, education, associations and the non-profit sector. We also work with a dedicated team of front-end and back-end developers who support our website builds and ongoing website maintenance. We are hiring an Account Manager to own a portfolio of client relationships from end to end, from understanding what the client needs to planning and following the work through delivery. A hands-on role There is no project coordinator underneath you. You will personally build project plans, lead team briefs, run client meetings, document decisions and next steps, follow up on outstanding information and check work against the brief before it goes to the client. You are responsible for keeping the client and team clear on what needs to happen and what comes next. Our Operations Manager works with you on timing, capacity, sequencing and resourcing. Roughly 60% of this job is planning, organizing, documenting and following through. The other 40% is strategic thinking, relationship-building and identifying opportunities for growth and success with your clients. We need someone who enjoys managing the details and can also listen beyond the immediate request, understand what a client is really trying to accomplish and make a sound recommendation about what should happen next. This role may not be the right fit if you want to hand execution to someone else once the strategy is set, prefer presenting the idea over managing the details required to deliver it, or are used to relying on a producer or project coordinator to own the follow-through. What you will do Own a portfolio of client accounts. You are the primary point of contact and maintain a clear view of where the work and relationship stand. Turn client conversations into project plans with clear deliverables, responsibilities, dates and dependencies, and keep those plans current. Write the briefs, recaps, change notes and status updates that keep projects and clients aligned. Lead complex website projects from discovery through strategy, UX, content, design, development, QA, launch and ongoing support. Help clients clarify what they need, prioritize what happens now, next and later, and make a clear recommendation when direction is required. Work with our Marketing Lead and other specialists to help shape the right strategy and approach when client needs extend into marketing, communications or digital. Work with our Operations Manager on timing, capacity and sequencing. You bring the project plan and requirements; Operations helps determine how and when the work can realistically move through the agency. Spot risk early, raise concerns with a recommended path and follow decisions through to resolution. Grow accounts by recognizing where 1dea can genuinely provide additional value. Use AI and other tools thoughtfully to support research, planning, documentation, content review, meeting follow-up and project delivery. What you need 5+ years in an agency, in-house marketing team or digital services environment, with meaningful responsibility for client relationships and project delivery. A track record of personally owning project plans, documentation, follow-up and the details required to keep work moving. The ability to understand an ambiguous or complex client need, read between the lines and turn it into a clear, actionable plan. Experience leading complex website projects end to end. Working knowledge of website environments, including WordPress, hosting, domains/DNS, staging and production environments, migrations, maintenance, analytics and integrations. You will not write code, but you need to understand what developers are telling you and the implications of technical decisions. Enough marketing and communications knowledge across brand, web, content, campaigns and digital marketing to make informed recommendations and work effectively with our Marketing Lead and other specialists. Clear, professional client-ready writing and strong communication skills. Comfort with budgets, scope changes, retainers and the occasional difficult client conversation. Strong judgement, organization and follow-through. You are legally entitled to work in Canada and currently live in Ontario. We are not able to sponsor visas or support relocation for this role. Helpful, but not required Experience with government, association, tourism, education, non-profit or healthcare clients Website support and maintenance programs Managing website or client retainers Brand strategy and positioning Paid digital, CRM, SEO or analytics experience Agile or sprint-based delivery What we offer $80,000–$95,000, based on experience Permanent, fully remote, 37.5-hour work week with flexible start and end times and flexibility for personal appointments Three weeks of paid vacation Paid emergency and personal leave Health Spending Account A collaborative and experienced team where your contribution is visible The opportunity to join an established agency that is actively evolving how it works How to apply Send your resumé to [email protected] with the subject line: Account Manager, Websites & Brand Instead of a traditional cover letter, please answer these two questions in the body of your email. About 150 words each is plenty. 1. How did you personally keep track of everything across your clients in your last role? Name the tools you used and tell us what your weekly routine actually looked like. 2. Tell us about a time when a client came to you with a request that was unclear, incomplete or not quite the right solution. How did you figure out what they actually needed, what did you recommend, and how did you turn that into a plan for the client and team? We read every application. Our process includes a first interview, a second interview and reference checks, and we reply to everyone who applies. Applications close September 14, 2026 at noon.
